The re-hook

Opens a countdown list with a discontinued item to create scarcity and emotional FOMO right after the authority flex.

Hot take

C4 Smart Energy Peach Mango Nectar is the greatest energy drink of all time.

Why it works

The video works because it stacks three strong levers: extreme authority ("5,000 different energy drinks"), a ranked list (built-in progression that encourages viewers to stay to hear #1), and nostalgia/scarcity via discontinued flavors. Each pick has a sensory micro-review (sweetness, sourness, mouthfeel) that makes the opinions feel earned, not random. The tight countdown pacing means there's a constant mini-payoff every few seconds, which keeps retention high even for casual viewers who just like rankings.

Swipe-file takeaways

  • Open with a big authority claim plus a finite list ("after [huge sample], here are my top [X]") to instantly position yourself as the expert.
  • Use a countdown format so viewers are naturally pulled through to see the top 1–2 spots.
  • Layer in scarcity or nostalgia (discontinued or hard-to-find items) to create emotional engagement beyond simple ratings.
  • Add short, vivid sensory descriptions (smell, flavor notes, sweetness level) so your rankings feel grounded and replayable.
  • Group similar items (e.g. a tie between two similar flavors) to sneak in extra picks without bloating the structure.

Full script

After consuming 5,000 different energy drinks, these are my top seven best flavors of all time. So starting with number seven that got discontinued, unfortunately, is C4 Smart Energy Electric Sour. Honestly, that initial Smart Energy six-ounce can might be the best energy drink line ever. And Electric Sour just had the perfect amount of sour. Now, number six, kind of a tie, so I'm gonna give it to both. It is Gorilla Mines Red Gummy Fish and Ghost Swedish Fish. I think the Gorilla Mines, since we can't find the Swedish Fish anymore, I'd like slightly better, but the Swedish Fish initially was so damn good. Ultra sweet, but I could have every single day and I would be completely fine. Number five, I do think it's a little overrated, but I have to put it in the White Monster. What are you gonna do? It's gotta be up there. Number top four, a little interesting. Starting with Bloom Crisp Apple, the newest added to my list. Incredible, the epitome of apple juice, or at least the closest thing. I do wish they went 16 ounce though. I want a little bit more. Number three is a sleeper and was my number one spot for a while. That's the Amino Energy Juicy Strawberry. Now that's a pink starburst. From the smell to the actual flavor of the drink, it's one of the best experiences you can have. Number two, Ghost Welch's Cran Grape. Yes, it is better than the normal Welch's. In my opinion, it's just slightly smoother. Not as much of that grape as my brother would say, bite action. And number one, I don't know if I see this spot ever changing in my life, C4 Smart Energy Peach Mango Nectar. The greatest energy drink of all time. It sucks you cannot find it anymore. I don't know why, but that was the most addictive flavor I've ever tasted. Little nectarine, little peach, just a slight hint of mango. It was unbelievable. So every single one of those seven, pretty much as close as you can get to a 10 out of 10 for me.
